Marissa first stepped onto the ice at age four with her mom Lori, who is a figure skating coach. She found a love for pairs skating and teamed up with Simon Shnapir in 2006. Just a few years into their partnership, Marissa suffered an injury to her inner thigh after a collision with another skater that kept her off the ice for a month. The two shared their ups and downs throughout their career, ultimately winning their first U.S. title in 2013. After repeating in 2014, Marissa and Simon made the 2014 Olympic Team, where they won bronze with Team USA in the Olympic Team Event. Marissa now skates with Mervin Tran, with whom she is the 2017 U.S. silver medalist.
